Conservation Work of the West Cocoon Warehouse of Tomioka Silk Mill

- This is a project for the conservation, repair, utilization, and seismic reinforcement of the former Tomioka Silk Mill, which was designated a National Treasure in 2014. The steel frame for seismic reinforcement minimizes the destruction of the preserved parts and ensures reversibility in case a better reinforcement method is developed in the future. The tempered glass boxes are airtight to reduce the effects of temperature and humidity changes on the preserved parts, and provide a spatial experience that allows visitors to view the exhibition materials and the building simultaneously from inside the boxes.
