- A thin, double-curved concrete shell structure that pays homage to the architect Felix Candela. Developed by the Block Research Group of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), the structure uses a system called KnitCrete, which uses cable nets and three-dimensional woven fabrics as concrete formwork. The formwork weighs only 55 kg and can support 5 tons of concrete. The knitted fabric of the formwork becomes the material that decorates the interior of the structure. Taking advantage of the lightweight and space-saving characteristics of knit, the formwork was produced in Switzerland and transported to Mexico in suitcases.
