- A cultural complex dedicated to the preservation of black culture and artistic expression. Artist Gates has been involved in Dorchester, an impoverished neighborhood, since 2006, renovating buildings to create a cultural center for the community. He purchased an abandoned bank from the city for $1, scraped off the existing marble and sold it as artwork to raise funds for renovations, and revitalized the building as a venue for exhibitions and performances.
