Venice Biennale 2014: Elements of Architecture

Outline
While the Biennale had become an exhibition of architects rather than architecture, Koolhaas posed a question with the overall theme of "Fundamentals. In the Central Pavilion exhibition "Elements of Architecture," organized in collaboration with the Harvard GSD, Koolhaas took up everything from components such as floors, roofs, doors, and windows to equipment such as elevators and toilets, and deciphered their history, technology, and culture as if he were observing architecture under a microscope. The book is a collection of essays by architects and designers from around the world. In this way, the exhibition attempted to approach the fundamental essence common to all architecture.
