Experimental Unit (Installation) / Masia 2008
Masayuki Irie + Masayuki Irie Laboratory of Waseda University
- Outline
- This is a project to rehabilitate a traditional stone minka, masia. Floors, walls, columns, and roof are inserted into the existing building using a steel frame. The structure is self-supporting, and the openings are supported by the steel frame, so there is no load on the existing masonry walls. The project is being used as an experimental device for scientific analysis of historical buildings.
