Massachusetts Institute of Technology The Media Lab Complex
Fumihiko Maki
- Outline
- An extension of the Media Institute (designed by I.M. Pei), founded by Nicholas Negroponti in 1985. As an institute that fills the space with activity and stimulates intellectual conversation among various groups, the public space integrates overlapping laboratories, from the four-story Lower Atrium to the three-story Upper Atrium and the Winter Garden on the top floor, which overlooks the city of Boston. The laboratories will be separated by glass screens, creating a space for collaboration that is not bound by disciplinary boundaries.
