Wang Shu (Amateur Architecture Studio)

- This is the city's history museum with approximately 8,000m2 of exhibition space. The form of the building references the nature of Ningbo, such as mountains and valleys, and includes a terrace and an atrium in what appears to be a closed space. Traditional local building materials are reused to connect the past with the present. The use of bamboo formwork for the exterior walls and the traditional method of tile-weaving, in which bricks and tiles are embedded, make the building itself an exhibition piece.
