Stacked House
Hiroaki Otani
- Outline
- The designer's own residence. The site is about 3.5 square meters in area, and buildings on three sides are just about to the edge of the boundary line. PC construction was selected as a structure that could be built to fill the entire site boundary. The PCs were made in the form of bars and stacked horizontally, with each corner stacked in a different direction and crimped together to form a wall with approximately half the space between them. Laminated glass is inserted between the PCs and fastened to the openings in the exterior walls, creating deep shadows with the weight and richness of the PC base material and the gaps between the PCs.
