Seattle Central Library

Outline
In the age of digitalization, the library is positioned as a public asset that can be accessed by all media simultaneously, and a new system is proposed. Based on the library's characteristic of ever-increasing collection, the system is organized with a "platform" for fixed programs and a "trading floor" that serves as an intermediary between the two. The "book spiral," a space for the library collection, prevents the disorderly arrangement of books that could not be handled by a conventional flat plan. The textiles and landscaping, including the garden carpet, were created by Petra Blaise.
