- The building is arranged to respond to the cool climate and undulating topography, and durable materials are used in contrast, such as corrugated iron on the exterior walls and whitewashed brick on the interior walls. Large overhanging eaves control direct light, and transparent high-sidelights, large openings below them, and movable screens open and close in response to seasonal and light changes. The clever design of closing and opening, as well as the consideration of orientation, creates a continuity between the landscape and the interior.
