Kandalama Hotel
Geoffrey Bawa
- Outline
- The hotel is located on a bluff overlooking a lake, following the topography as it curves around. The local stone flooring, exposed rock surfaces, and vegetation covering the buildings create a continuity with nature. The exposed frame and green screen overlap with the landscape, blending the architecture into the landscape. It is also called "Tropical Modernism," which modulates modernism in response to the environmental conditions of tropical regions.
