Tower of Winds in Yokohama
Toyo Ito
- Outline
- A mirror was applied to the surface of the existing intake tower, which was surrounded by an elliptical perforated aluminum panel. The ring to which these panels are attached is supported by four pillars, and lateral forces are channeled into the existing structure. The light between the mirrors and the aluminum panels gives the tower a variety of expressions in the city at night. The tower questions the almost complete absence of architectural substance in the urban space of the time.
