Utase Elementary School
Coelacanth Architects
- Outline
- Diagrammatic thinking has enabled us to shed light again on the human user and to address the essential development of architectural planning. In this elementary school, the open school format that has existed since the postwar period has been reconfigured at the level of furniture and activities, and the perimeter of the site has been designed as an architecture that connects to the city without walls. Beginning with the renovation of the sound environment, the architect has continued to be involved with the school, and while many schools are closing due to declining birthrates, the number of students in this district has increased, and in 2005 an addition to the school was completed.
