Institut du Monde Arabe (Arab World Institute)

Outline
This institute was established to communicate about the Arab world. The curved facade on the north side facing the Seine River expresses Western culture, while the south elevation, reminiscent of the latticed windows of Arabic architecture, was designed as a contemporary expression of Eastern culture. Each lattice has an aperture for dimming, and the light is automatically dimmed by solar cells.
