- Under the leadership of an architect-born president, an international competition was held to develop low-rise, high-density housing that could keep pace with future changes, and finally several architects were assigned model neighborhoods to develop experimental housing districts. The Japanese team of Kiyonori Kikutake + Kisho Kurokawa + Fumihiko Maki participated in the competition, and planned a community of unit dwelling units that can be expanded by residents and arranged in a triangular pattern.
