Mothers’ House

Outline
A temporary housing and support facility for single mothers and their children. It consists of an old building with private rooms for the mothers and a new building where the children live. Openings and lines of flow to the main staircase connecting these different floor heights mediate the space physically and visually, allowing residents to choose on the spot whether to mingle or distance themselves from others. The cheerful colors of the building complement this function by emphasizing the depth of the space.
