Sea Ranch Condominium
Charles Moore and Lawrence Halprin
- Outline
- The rugged coastal site spans 5,000 acres. Based on ecological and microclimate studies conducted in the field and in collaboration with experts, Halprin drew an eco-score map of environmental interactions and developed an overall plan. Condominium 1 was built in the first phase of development. The single-sloped, sequoia wood structure reflects the regional character of the West Coast, and the topography of the building's annex layout reduces environmental impacts. Furniture-like rooms were created in the interior to create lofts.
