Multi-story Apartment House in Harumi
Kunio Mayekawa
- Outline
- The first 10-story high-rise apartment complex by the Japan Housing Corporation to address the housing shortage, it consists of a 3-story RC megastructure and 3-story 6-unit sub-structure. Elevators stop at each of the three floors, and each unit is accessed by stairs up and down from the stopped floor. Maekawa visited Unite d'habitation after attending the 8th CIAM in 1951 and referred to this access.
