Esposizione Universale di Roma

Outline
The city was built for the 1942 Rome World Exposition under the Fascist regime led by Mussolini. Although the World War II caused the cancellation of the Expo and the suspension of urban planning, the construction of the Pala Lottomatica (stadium) for the 1960 Olympics in Rome triggered the redevelopment of the EUR. Italian rationalist architecture is fused with classicism as a demonstration of the majesty of the regime of the time and the glory of ancient Rome.
