Barcelona Pavilion
Mies van der Rohe + Lilly Reich
- Outline
- The German Pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona Expo, a 1986 restoration is still standing. The roof is supported by chrome-finished cruciform columns, and non-bearing walls of stone define the space. Stone and glass crystallized into a luxurious, unadorned architecture. It was designed in collaboration with Lilly Reich, the artistic director of the German Pavilion at the Exposition.
