Sumitomo Building
Sumitomo Eizen Design Office (Eikichi Hasebe + Kenzo Takekoshi)
- Outline
- The headquarters office fully demonstrates the capital power of the Sumitomo Zaibatsu conglomerate. The simple exterior with Ionic columns at the central entrance, Ryuzan stone on the wall above the waist, and continuous vertical windows contrasts with the splendor of the vaulted sales room with a Corinthian travertine colonnade. Hasebe is said to have been in charge of the interior design, while Takekoshi was in charge of the floor plan and facilities.
