Outline: As part of the Kumamoto Artpolis, the redevelopment of Takamori Station and surrounding area was promoted as part of the Minamiaso Railway reconstruction plan after the Kumamoto Earthquake, and this proposal centered on a "wide platform" was adopted. Taking advantage of the topography and orientation, the station and exchange facilities were divided to the left and right to create a view of the setting sun and the Aso Caldera. The platform was made into an open plaza where local residents and tourists can stay.
