- The former Yamagata First Elementary School building, which opened in 1927 and was registered as a national tangible cultural property in 2001, was renovated to create a complex facility that will serve as a hub for creative industries in the wake of Yamagata City's membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2017.
