Outline: The residence and studio of architect Riki Shigemura, located in a residential area adjacent to a valley door (a valley-like landform formed by erosion of hills) in Kanagawa Prefecture. He rebuilt the gate of his birthplace on the inherited land, and aimed to create an environment that inherits the local climate. A hill was built in the garden and a variety of plants were planted.
