THE SAKAMOTO RYOMA MEMORIAL MUSEUM
ISHIMOTO ARCHITECTUAL & ENGINNERING FIRM + WORKSTATION+WAKATAKE TOWN PLANNING RESEARCH INSTITUTE
- Outline
- In 2014, the Kochi Prefectural Government formulated a plan for the renovation of the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum (9201), which was constructed in 1991, and decided to construct a new building with the function of storing and exhibiting cultural assets and to renovate the existing building. A design proposal was held, and a three-party JV consisting of Ishimoto Architectural Office, Workstation, the designer of the existing building, and Wakatake Machizukuri Kenkyusho was selected as the designer. While the existing building is open and brightly colored, the new building is closed and has a subdued color scheme, creating a contrasting design expression.
