THE SUMIDA HOKUSAI MUSEUM

Outline
The purpose of this museum is to preserve and exhibit the works of Katsushika Hokusai, a late Edo period ukiyoe artist born in present-day Sumida Ward, and his students. The exterior of the building is divided by slits to match the scale of the surrounding area. The exterior aluminum panels are approximately 1250 x 5600 mm, 3 mm thick, anodized, and then electropolished and etched.
