YAMAMOTO-CHO YAMASHITA-DAINI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Outline
The relocation and reconstruction project of Yamashita Daini Elementary School (foreground) in Yamamoto-cho, which was damaged by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a part of the disaster prevention group relocation project to the inland area where the coastal area was filled with soil, the Yamamoto-cho Children's Center and the Yamamoto-cho Tsubame no Mori Nursery School are integrated into the project. Each unit has an umbrella-like roof made of larch laminated wood arranged radially over a group of classrooms in a rice paddy-shaped plan.
