Outline: Renovation of the student cafeteria at Tokyo Denki University Hatoyama Campus. Students took the initiative in designing the interior and selecting fixtures. Thirty-six proposals were submitted for the project, and after an on-campus exhibition, questionnaire survey, and review by student staff, the implementation proposal was selected. Other projects are underway in a similar process, aiming to incorporate practical education using university facilities into the curriculum, to characterize a suburban campus, and to build a model for the development of university facilities with user participation.
