YASUDA WOMENS UNIVERSITY NEW BUILDING NO.5

Outline
This project involved the reconstruction of Building 5 at Yasuda Women's University, located in Hiroshima City, in conjunction with the opening of the School of Nursing in 2014. A "big plate stacked school building" with large span column-free spaces was adopted to flexibly accommodate changes in the use of each room with future changes in the educational system. The three-story atrium galleria on the east side of the building (photo at right) was planned as a traffic flow space to eliminate the difference in elevation within the campus.
