TOKYO METROPOLITAN TEIEN ART MUSEUM
KUME SEKKEI
- Outline
- Renovation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, located in Shirokanedai, Minato-ku, Tokyo. We renovated the facilities of the main building (the former Asakamiya residence, completed in 1933), which is designated as a cultural property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and reconstructed the facilities of the State Guest House (completed in 1963), which was adjacent to the main building. In the garden, the stone pavement from the time of the guesthouse was removed, and the garden was newly developed as a lawn garden. Management rooms and air-conditioning heat sources were moved from the main building to the new building to remove elements that might cause water damage or disasters, and the former management rooms were opened to the public. A thorough investigation of the renovation history and finishes at the time of construction was conducted, and the building was designed to return to its original state.
