JUN AOKI AND ASSOCIATES
Outline
This is a sports facility for Suginami Ward, built on the site of the former Omiyamae Elementary School, for which Jun Aoki was selected as the designer through a proposal competition held in 2008. The height of the building above ground is reduced to 5m, which is slightly lower than that of the surrounding low-rise residential area, by placing the large gymnasium and swimming pool in the basement.
