SHINJUKU GYOEN GREENHOUSE
NIHON SEKKEI
- Outline
- A large greenhouse in the Shinjuku Gyoen Garden, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. The greenhouse used to be divided into five buildings, but they were combined into one. Natural ventilation and cool tubes allow various natural environments, from tropical to alpine, to coexist in a single space. In order to reduce the environmental load, the exterior area of the greenhouse is designed to be small. The steel frame of the structure is welded to reduce the shadows cast in the greenhouse.
