HIGASHIYAMA BOTANICAL GARDENS SOUSETSUAN
OSAMU KIUCHI ARCHITECT & ASSOCIATES
- Outline
- This teahouse is located in the Yayoi Garden in the Higashiyama Botanical Garden in Nagoya City. The teahouse was constructed using traditional wooden construction methods that do not rely on metal reinforcement. We attempted to evaluate the seismic performance of the traditional construction method by calculating the limit bearing capacity. As new earthquake-resistant elements, the joints between pillars and footings, pillars and girders, load-bearing plate walls, and small walls and hip walls were devised as earthquake-resistant frame structures. A full-scale experiment was conducted to verify the design.
