HOUSE OF 1930

Outline
An 83-year-old wooden one-story house in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, was renovated as a rental residence. The value of the building is increased by reorganizing the existing components, such as using dampers to supplement the joints between pillars and beams, and between pillars and foundations, to improve seismic performance, and retaining the original bamboo flaps of the earthen walls.
