YAMAGA SAKURAYU

Outline
A project to restore a wooden public bathhouse called "Sakura-yu" using traditional construction methods in the center of Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture, known as a hot spring resort town, was carried out in conjunction with the reduction of Kyushu's first redevelopment project in the 1970s and changes in urban planning to enable wooden construction (see page 148 for details). Existing materials were reused for the gable panels, gable decorations, and some of the roof tiles.
