NAGAOKA WASHIMA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Outline
This is a newly built elementary school, which is the result of the merger of two elementary schools. The school was built with a policy of actively incorporating local materials and craftsmanship. At the beginning of the project, a wooden structure was considered, but after the 2004 Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake, the structure was changed to a mixed structure based on a wooden "Shinkabe" structure with reinforced concrete walls.
