JP TOWER

Outline
The reconstruction of the Tokyo Central Post Office by Yoshida Tetsuro, an engineer of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (this journal 3202). Under the special floor-area-ratio system, the post office was reconstructed by using the surplus volume of Tokyo Station. Two spans of the existing building facing the Tokyo Station Plaza are preserved as a low-rise building with seismic isolation. To ensure safety, most of the tiles on the exterior walls were reproduced, but tiles from the original construction were newly installed on the exterior walls of the first floor using the rail method.
