TAKANAWA KIDS-TO-TEENS HALL
KENYA ISHIHARA+MASAKI ENDOH+MASAYA NAKANO/DENEFES+ENDOH DESIGN HOUSE
- Outline
- A public facility in front of the subway station, mainly for high school students and younger. It consists of a gymnasium, library, multipurpose hall, and music studio. The library, which is a branch of the adjacent Takanawa Library, has a collection of approximately 30,000 children's books. The entire building is divided into smaller units and stacked to match the scale of the surrounding buildings. The structure consists of steel-frame Rahmen and tubular reinforced concrete earthquake-resistant walls. A large space is formed by stacking the buildings while ensuring earthquake resistance. The south face of the building is walled to reduce noise, and an opening is made between the displaced volumes.
