- It is a non-religious facility of the Aga Khan, the 49th Imam of the Shia Ismaili sect of Islam. It is also the home of the Aga Khan's activist organization in Canada. The exterior walls are made of high-transparency glass, translucent ceramic frit glass, and white crystallized glass (neopalier). The atrium with a glass dome (high transmittance glass) is layered with fiberglass mesh screens and cast aluminum screens to create different light conditions depending on the time of day.
