MOKUZAI KAIKAN

Outline
A lumber wholesaler's union hall in front of Shin-Kiba Station. The building is an attempt to generalize the use of wood in the city. The wooden façade encloses a terrace, stairs, and elevator hall, and serves as a border space between the office space and the outside. In the hall on the top floor, a large span of nearly 30 meters is realized by joint beams using computer-controlled NC machining.
