TOKYO TECH FRONT

Outline
Together with the Tokyo Institute of Technology Centennial Hall (designed by Kazuo Shinohara, 8801), the plaza is the face of the university and houses a multipurpose hall, conference rooms, restaurants, and cafes. The plaza, which is open to the square in front of Ookayama Station, has louvered eaves made of extruded cement board. The louvers are continuous with the ceilings of the foyer and hall, integrating the urban scale with the scale of each part of the building. The subdivided form of the building, with the plaza at its center, is intended to maintain continuity with the scale of the adjacent residential area. The bridge through the hall will be connected to the promenade in front of the main building on the campus (0607) in the future.
