FUKUYAMA CITY CENTRAL LIBRARY

Outline
Located in the center of Fukuyama City, this building is a complex of a municipal library and a lifelong learning plaza integrated with a park. A large span of concrete lattice beams is used to create an open reading room with deep eaves to control solar radiation. A natural ventilation system is installed in the perimeter, and the first floor is pre-cooled by the evaporation effect of the water table. The exterior walls are made of rammed earth bricks.
