House in Shichiku

Outline: The building stands on a narrow, east-west-oriented lot in Kyoto that resembles an eel’s nest. The elongated structure is positioned toward the north, with a series of large openings along the south side. By bringing the surrounding environment into the interior through these openings, and at the same time allowing the atmosphere of daily life to seep out into the street, the design creates a gentle connection between the home and the neighborhood.
