Outline: The designer's own residence in a residential area on Amami Oshima. Solar panels and a vacuum tube solar water heater were installed to create an independent energy cycle without relying on the power grid in Amami Oshima, where daylight hours are short. The roof inherits the design of corrugated iron sheets and irimoya (gabled roof) seen in the surrounding villages, and is adapted to the island's climate with less energy consumption through the use of heat insulation, ventilation, and lighting.
