House in Miyota
Satoyama Architecture Laboratory
- Outline
- A house built in a residential area in a cold region using the itagura construction method, in which cedar boards 30 mm thick are dropped in to create load-bearing walls. The combination of the itagura construction method and Pethika, which uses radiant heat, keeps the interior at a constant temperature and humidity for a long time. Combining cedar drum beams and pre-cut lumber, Pethika is placed in the center of the interior with a large atrium. The eaves of the large roof are pitched down long enough to protect the window walls.
