Surrounded by the trees of the Karuizawa forest, this guest house is accompanied by a private gallery built around the plants and trees of the same forest. The shadows of the large trees that grow naturally in the outer garden cover the building and erode into the interior; five courtyards set up a sundial throughout the house, transforming every inch of the interior space. The sloping roof slopes down towards the courtyards, inviting not only the light to shine into the interior, but also the outside environment.
