KITAYON KADO

Outline: This is a project in which the architect personally acquired a plot of land along the shopping street in Nishi-Ogikubo and owns the building he designed. Across the street is the first phase of the project, KITAYON (featured in issue 1706 of this magazine), and to its immediate right is the site for the third phase, currently in the planning stages. The east side of the building features a craft-tiled finish designed to create an alleyway, aiming to establish a sense of place as a space for people to linger.
