Outline: This building, with a total floor area of just under 200 square meters, was constructed on a site measuring 5.6 meters wide by 28 meters deep, located west of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. Initially, the plan was to operate it as a café and shared office, but as the design progressed, the desire to expand its potential beyond just a workplace led to the final name, “PLACE.” Modelled after traditional Kyoto machiya townhouses, the building consists of three volumes separated by a garden.
