James-Simon-Galerie

Outline
As a new gateway to Berlin's Museum Island, which houses several museums, it connects each museum through above- and below-ground passageways and has various functions such as a cloakroom and a ticket counter. The continuous colonnade from the adjacent New Museum (photo above right, p. 69) reflects the prewar urban context, and architectural elements such as the exterior staircase are in harmony with the surrounding existing architecture.
