- A restoration and reconstruction project for the New Museum, the last of the buildings on Berlin's Museum Island that were destroyed in World War II and remained in ruins until the end of the war. The project was selected through a competition in 1997 in the city after the reunification of East and West Germany, and was realized based on a consensus process to evaluate the existing and new sections, and a common will to restore the original form rather than imitate history. The original design was by Friedrich August Stühler. The existing sequence and volumes were restored, and the added sections were designed to be continuous with the existing structure.
